Krishnapuram Palace a Tourist Attraction in Kerala

The beautiful and stunning Krishnapuram Palace is 47 km from Alleppey (in the district of Alappuzha), which is on the way to Kollam. It’s a special place that everyone should see, and it’s spread out over about 1.5 acres. It is a well-known historical house that was built in the 18th century by Anizham Thirunal Marthanda. It is built in the style of Kerala and has dormer windows, a gabled roof, and a small hallway. It is close to the Krishnaswamy Temple in Krishnapuram. The palace also has a beautiful landscaped park with a lot of different plants and a Buddha mandapam.

History

In the 18th century, this house was built by the King of the State of Travancore. There are lots of other buildings that are a great mix of traditional and western styles. In 1950, the Archaeological Department of the state rebuilt the current house and a three-story building in the same area. It was fixed up in a modern way by using scientific methods for protecting old buildings. The Bible in Sanskrit was written in Kolkata in 1886. The museum has a copy of that Bible.

Architecture and Collection

The palace is a great example of this type of architecture because it has narrow passageways, low ceilings, balcony windows that stick out, etc. At the moment, the palace is a museum of ancient artifacts that is looked after by the Archaeological Department. Here, the most important things to look at are the painting of Gajendra Moksham, the Kayamkulam sword, and the statue of Buddha. The wall of the bathing house in the castle is decorated with murals by Gajendra Moksham.
