Immunity Boosting Drinks for Good Health

There are rising levels of pollution, so we can use some immunity-boosting recipes for whipping up at home. Based on Ayurveda, when the daily routine and your diet are not adjusted as per the seasonal change, the amas or toxins of your body prevents your immune system from becoming stronger and improving. The “seed and land” or Beej-Bhumi serves as the Ayurvedic theory of immunity in which the body is the fertile land and the impurities act as the growing seed. Ayurveda recommends herbal teas of various spices and herbs to reduce these toxins.

The Ginger Tea

The heat of ginger can protect you from infections, the recipe includes honey to soothe your throat. Add a pinch of cinnamon to alleviate the symptoms of indigestion and for a comforting taste.

The Ingredients are 2 cloves, 1 tsp of Ginger root, ½ tsp of Honey, 1 pinch of Cinnamon and 1 strip of Orange peel. Take a saucepan and add all the ingredients with a cup of water and boil it. Simmer and let it sit for 15 minutes. Strain the liquid and have a warm cup of it.

Pepper and Lemon Tea

Black pepper is considered as the common remedy of sore throat and cough as per Ayurveda. The tea is flavoured with ingredients and made with ground pepper as per your taste. For a zesty flavour add lemon to boost the immunity and reap the benefits of Vitamin C.

The ingredients included are ¼ tsp of Pepper, the Juice of 1 lemon, ½ tsp of turmeric powder and ½ tsp of honey. Mix all the ingredients in a cup and all hot water as you stir well.

The Ashwagandha Tea

The magical ingredient for your immune system is Ashwagandha, considered as an ancient medicinal herb. This improves your health, reduces stress and anxiety.

The Ingredients are ½ tsp of Honey and 3-4 small pieces of dried Ashwagandha root. You have to boil the Ashwagandha root for 20 minutes in water, then strain the liquid and add honey to it.

The Tulsi Tea

Tulsi has myriad health benefits with purifying herbs of the Ayurvedic family. It has multiple skin healing benefits. The Ingredients are ½ tbsp of honey, 2-3 tulsi leaves and ½ tbsp of lemon juice. Take a saucepan and add tulsi leaves along with water. Boil it and simmer for 15 minutes. Strain the liquid and add remaining ingredients. Mix well and drink while it’s warm.

The Chamomile Tea

This has soothing and calming effects as chamomile induces a good night’s sleep. Sipping the chamomile tea right before the bed is a good option. Addition of lavender to it adds the stress-relieving benefits.

The Ingredients are juice of 1 lemon, ½ tsp of honey, ½ cup of fresh chamomile flowers, ½ cup of fresh lavender flowers and 2-3 mint leaves. The mint leaves, chamomile and lavender flowers are boiled and steeped in water for about 5 minutes. Strain the boiled liquid and add lemon juice along with honey as you stir well.

The Kadha

This is the effective ayurvedic drink to heal you from within and also used for boosting your immunity.

The Ingredients are 1 pinch of cinnamon, 2-3 cloves, 5-6 tulsi leaves, 2-3 small pieces of ginger, ½ tsp of honey, 1 pinch of freshly crushed Black Pepper and 1 pinch of Black Cardamom Powder. You have to soak the tulsi leaves overnight in a cup of water. Next day add the soaked tulsi leaves and it’s water into a saucepan along with black pepper, cloves, ginger, black cardamom and cinnamon. Add water and simmer for 10 minutes. Strain the liquid and add honey as you stir well to drink.
