Kerala Ayurveda Treatment & Therapy for Hip Pain

Ayurvedic medicine says that hip pain is a sign of a high Vata dosha. It is a common complaint that can be brought on by many different things. Hip pain on the outside of your hip, upper thigh, or outer buttock is usually caused by problems with the muscles, ligaments, tendons, and other soft tissues that surround your hip joint. How to Treat Hip Pain.

In Ayurvedic medicine, regular oil massage, called snehana, is seen as a very effective way to treat a wide range of health problems. Massage eases pain because it calms vata, loosens stiff joints and muscles, improves circulation, moves toxins out of the body, and relaxes the body.

How to Understand Long-Term Pain

Ayurveda welcomes and accepts pain, even as it tries to get rid of it, because Nature wants pain to be a message with many layers. Underneath the immediate order to stop using that body part is a request for us to look at our lives and figure out what we are doing to cause this pain.

If you tend to ignore what your body is telling you until it hurts too much, things get out of hand. Some unconscious habits, like holding your breath, tensing your muscles all the time, stifling your emotions, eating too much processed, refined food, drinking too much caffeine, or not drinking enough water, make us more likely to feel pain because they aggravate vata, the dosha that is involved in pain. If you can take a step back and see what you do and how you do it that makes the problem worse, you can start to get rid of the pain naturally.

Ayurveda Suggests an All-Natural Pain Remedy

1. Systematic relaxation

The next time you want to take a pill for your symptoms, spend 10 minutes in Shavasana (corpse pose) instead. This will help you relax in a systematic way. This practise can naturally stop muscle spasms, ease stress, and calm the mind.

2. Massage

In Ayurvedic medicine, regular oil massage, called Snehana, is seen as a very effective way to treat all kinds of illnesses. Massage eases pain because it calms Vata, loosens stiff joints and muscles, improves circulation, moves toxins out of the body, and relaxes the body. The best would be once a week.

Ayurvedic doctors can find the best combinations for each person. Therapies like Tailadhara (pouring medicated oils), Nhavarakkizhi (massage with bolus of rice boiled in medicated milk), and Ksheera vasthi are some of the best ways to stop degeneration and strengthen the joints.

3. Diet

Food can heal in many ways. Follow a Vata-pacifying diet of warm, moist, mildly spiced, and nourishing foods for a month and see if it makes a difference. All of the sweet, salty, and sour tastes calm Vata. Just make sure to get your sweets from natural, healthy sources, like ripe plums, pears, or dates, and don’t eat too much of them. Overeating aggravates Vata.

4. Gentle Asana

Pain can keep us from moving and stretching the way we usually do. Limiting your movement will only make the problem worse. When there is stagnation or congestion in the body, toxins build up and cause pain. By moving the blood, lymph, and synovial fluid, gentle asanas help break up the stagnation caused by the muscles. Even if you only stretch for 15 minutes every morning or night, it will make a huge difference.

5. Aromatherapy

Studies have shown that the essential oils of rosemary and thyme make muscles warm and increase blood flow to them. Peppermint and myrtle, on the other hand, temporarily relieve pain.

6. Herbs

Turmeric and ginger help with inflammatory pain, while valerian, kava kava, chamomile, skullcap, passionflower, hops, and jatamansi (the “Indian valerian”) help with tension-related pain. Most of the time, inflammation and tension are both parts of chronic pain.

Because of this, Ayurveda’s deep understanding of chronic pain, along with natural remedies, can help relieve hip pain.
