Stay Chill as Ayurveda: It may be hot out there. But you don’t need to switch on the air conditioning as usual. You can change your yoga routine with some new approaches, by including more herbs, fruits and veggies to your diet. Choose to wear certain colours that minimizes the overheat effect.

Consider to choose some self-care tips to stay refreshed

  • Hydrate yourself by consuming refreshing coconut water, or add cucumber, mint or lime to the plain water.
  • Incorporate loads of fruits and veggies such as cucumbers, watermelon and juicy berries to your summer diet.
  • The seaside colours have a cooling effect on the mind. So wear shades of green, blue and white.
  • Pitta people can relax by lightening up some incense like lavender, rose and sandalwood.
  • Wash yourself with a cooling shower. If you don’t have time, gently rinse your feet with cool water that immediately cools the body. You can even refresh your skin by spritzing yourself with rose water.
  • Freshen your mouth by brushing your teeth, chewing on a mint, gargling to keep a good smelling breath.
  • You can practise yoga at the cooler times of the day like early morning and evening. Practise Savasana or relax with some gentle stretching.
  • Turn your palms up while you sit, to feel a sense of openness and coolness.
  • You can choose wide-legged postures such as Upavistha Konasana and Ananda Balasana to expel heat from thighs.
  • You can also choose a yin class to put some extra energy into new vigorous postures or flows.
