Treating Constipation with the Help of Ayurveda

Constipation is one of the most common health problems. Even one day without a full bowel movement can hurt and make you more likely to get sick. Ayurveda is one of the oldest ways to treat constipation. It is based on an understanding of vata, pitta, and kapha.

What is constipation

Constipation is a Vata condition that shows qualities like dryness and hardness. Constipation happens when the cold and dry qualities of Vata upset the colon and stop it from working. This is because their diets don’t have enough fibre, they don’t drink enough water, they don’t exercise enough, and many other things. Constipation can make you more likely to have bloating and pain, gas and pain, headaches, and bad breath.

Causes

Most of the time, people don’t pay attention when nature calls. Constipation can be caused by eating irregularly, sitting around all the time, having a troubled or worried mind, and drinking too much tea or coffee.

Ayurveda suggests certain ways to get rid of constipation and make bowel movements smooth and regular.

*Follow a Vata Dosha Pacifying Diet—Vata Balancing Diet is the best way to keep from getting constipated. Don’t eat or drink anything cold, and don’t eat dried fruit, salads, or beans. Only eat warm foods, drink warm drinks, and eat vegetables that have been cooked well.

*Triphala–-Triphala, which helps with constipation, is a very good treatment. Take a quarter teaspoon of Triphala, a half teaspoon of coriander seeds, and a quarter teaspoon of cardamom seeds. You can grind them up and eat it twice a day. Triphala can help you go to the bathroom, and cardamom and coriander seeds can help with gas and indigestion.

*Milk and ghee—A good and gentle way to get rid of constipation is to put one or two teaspoons of ghee in a cup of hot milk and drink it before bed.

*Fennel Seeds–A teaspoon of roasted fennel and a glass of warm water before bed can help you go to the bathroom. The oil in fennel can help get digestion going by making the stomach make more enzymes.

*Anjeer [Figs]—“cool and dry” People with constipation are often told to soak figs in warm water. This is because figs are high in fibre. If you eat figs every day, they will help your digestion.

Pay attention to the simple tips below to get rid of constipation:

  • At least four glasses of water should be drunk in the morning.
  • You can also drink green tea or chamomile tea, which can help your digestion.
  • Every day, eat foods that are high in fibre.
  • Do at least 30 minutes of exercise every day to keep your metabolism in good shape.
  • Eat enough fruits and vegetables in season to add to your weight.
